Roux to Present at 29th Annual International Conference on Soil, Water, Energy, and Air
Monday, March 18 – Thursday, March 21 For the past twenty-eight years, this annual conference has helped to bring the environmental science community closer by providing a forum to facilitate the exchange of technological advances, new scientific achievements, and the effectiveness of environmental regulation programs. The International Conference on Soil, Water, Energy, and Air and AEHS Foundation Semi-Annual Meeting offers attendees an opportunity to exchange findings, ideas, and recommendations in a professional setting.
On Tuesday morning, March 19, Roux’s Adam Love, Ph.D. of our Oakland, California office will be presenting “Rewind the Clock: Use of Environmental Forensics to Investigate Timing of Release.” One of the most frequent, and often most confounding, questions asked about contaminated site is: When were the contaminants released to the environment? Given the costs of environmental cleanups, the answer to this question can have critical impacts on the liabilities of the associated parties. Timing of release can result in the identification of responsible parties (RPs), factor in the allocation of cleanup costs among RPs, and determine whether the release falls within a RP’s insurance policy period. While we often imagine a single, readily identifiable moment when the contaminants of concern entered an environmental matrix, we will discuss the numerous ways in which timing of release can be assessed and how multiple lines of evidence can be used to provide further confidence in such assessments.
