Perchlorate Superfund Site Drinking Water Treatment, Biological Reactor

Roux worked directly with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), California State Drinking Water and Regulatory Staff, and a multi-disciplinary team to help fund, design, and permit the first fluidized-bed biological reactor (FBR) to treat perchlorate-impacted groundwater for use as drinking water in California. The FBR treats up to 2,000 gallons per minute (gpm) of higher concentration perchlorate from a source cutoff groundwater well in the Rialto-Colton Basin emanating from Federal Superfund and state-regulated source areas. Roux served in a consulting/engineering support role with aspects of project planning, securing grant funding, NCP compliance, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and drinking water permitting, and negotiations with the USEPA and responsible parties. This project received over $20M in grant funding.
