The government and investment community have become increasingly focused on protecting the environment and measuring the social responsibility and corporate performance of companies. A recent proposed Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) regulation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Biden Administration’s August 16th climate change and health care bill, have further ramped up interest among public and private corporations in an already quickly growing effort to understand and disclose carbon emissions and climate risk.
The regulatory pressure by the SEC has prompted large public companies to request emissions and other data from business partners in their value chain.
