On Wednesday, May 8, from 11am-12pm, Roux’s Drew Howard, MEM will take part in a panel discussion entitled Encouraging Environmental Sustainability and Managing Climate Risk: The Increasing Role of Markets in Meeting the Climate Change Challenge. This session will bring together key experts to discuss these developments from many perspectives, focusing on New York Legislator priorities and accomplishments, concluding a keynote address from the new interim Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Jonathan Binder. Learn more about this session below.

Climate initiatives are an increasing focus of government. The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act is requiring the development of a Cap and Invest climate trading program and newly enacted laws and regulations address climate disclosure. These efforts bring market forces directly into the sustainability equation. Even though market-focused approaches can be controversial, America’s CEOs note that sustainability strategies are their top operational priority in the next year, and they expect significant returns from sustainability investments over the next three to five years.
