Ms. Graustein is a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) in the state of New Jersey with nearly twenty years of experience. She holds a BS in Environmental Science from Temple University. She is an experienced environmental consultant specializing in site investigation and remediation for a variety of different of different impacts including light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL). Her client experience extends from Fortune 500 corporations to small local companies, bringing a comprehensive understanding of environmental challenges across various industries. Her expertise in the downstream and midstream sectors in the oil and gas industry spans managing portfolios of retail gas stations to developing and overseeing complex investigation/remediation strategies at legacy petroleum refineries and terminals. She also works closely with real estate clients, leveraging her deep knowledge of environmental due diligence, brownfields redevelopment, and site divestment. A key area of her focus is Brownfield redevelopment, where she applies her technical expertise to repurpose underutilized or impacted properties for new, productive uses including the redevelopment of landfills for solar energy projects.

representative projects
  • Project Manager responsible for investigation, remediation, and environmental compliance at a ~288-acre former refinery, 210 acres of which are a functioning mid-stream storage facility, to satisfy New Jersey Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) requirements. The refinery is located along a tidal waterway immediately adjacent to one of the most recognized sediment mega sites along the US east coast.  Designed, implemented, and managed full-scale remedial investigation/remedial action activities, including free-phase light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) recovery, groundwater characterization, and delineation in a multi-aquifer system. This project involved implementation of several different remedial strategies, including excavation and capping to address chromium, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and/or petroleum hydrocarbon-related compounds, and coordination with multiple stakeholders and advocacy at the State and local levels.
  • Site LSRP for the development of a 1.62-mW solar project on a municipal landfill in southern New Jersey. Responsible for designing a remedial plan, including geophysical survey and subsurface investigation to determine extents of the historical landfilling operations. Evaluated existing engineered control systems, including the cap and gas and leachate collection systems. Completed landfill closure and minor disruption permitting through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Division of Sustainable Waste Management.
  • Site LSRP for a Spill Act Discharge case at a 655-acre site located in the Pinelands Protection Area in New Jersey and subject to the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP). Responsible for development and implementation of remedial strategy (including soil, groundwater, and sediment investigation) for compounds (e.g., pesticides and metals) and coordination with multiple regulatory agencies.
