Corpus Christi Bay

When traditional sediment sampling by boat was not feasible, Roux designed a cost-saving sampling plan for scuba divers to collect sediment approximately 40 feet below the water surface in the Corpus Christi Bay. Preliminary results indicated the need for ecological risk assessment. Roux negotiated with state officials in a screening level ecological risk assessment workplan, which evaluated specific receptors of interest and exposure pathways for the risk calculations. Food chain modeling was performed, which eliminated the need for further site-specific risk assessment and remediation of sediment for site-related impacts.
