Metals Processing Facility; New Jersey
Roux conducted a wetland investigation; habitat assessment; and soil, sediment, and surface water sampling as part of a Screening Level Ecological Risk Assessment (SLERA) for a former metals processing facility along Woodbridge Creek in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The investigation focused on uplands, wetlands, and tidal waterways, and was completed to fulfill requirements under a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) corrective action. A robust background investigation was conducted to support development of the ecological conceptual site model for the Site. Based on the SLERA, a Baseline Ecological Risk Assessment (BERA) was recommended to further assess the risk to the aquatic and terrestrial food chains due to the presence of elevated concentrations of metals and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediment.
