Roux Office Spotlight: Logan Township, New Jersey
The Logan Township, New Jersey office was established in 1986 as our second Roux office after our early industrial and compliance work on Superfund sites, including the $300 million BROS Superfund Site in Bridgeport, New Jersey. Located a short distance from Philadelphia, Logan Township remains our second largest office, employing over 70 environmental professionals with diverse technical disciplines and providing a wide range of environmental services. Southern New Jersey services the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries, and the Real Estate, Energy, Insurance, and Public sectors. Roux’s success in this region led to the 2017 opening of our Northern New Jersey office in Somerset. Matthew G. DeMaio, LSRP is a Principal Scientist with over twenty years of experience designing, implementing, and managing site investigations and remedial investigations/actions for Industrial, Brownfields, and Insurance clients in New Jersey. He is a New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and has served as the LSRP of Record for multiple regulated Underground Storage Tank (UST), Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA), and Spill Act Discharge cases, for which he has developed regulatory compliance strategies and achieved site closure. Mr. DeMaio is also a regulatory compliance specialist for New Jersey State-led UST programs, and is certified by the State of New Jersey for all UST categories of service. Mr. DeMaio is a Roux Vice President and the Operations Manager of the Logan Township office.
KariAnne Czajkowski, CSE joined our firm last year as a Principal Scientist and our Ecological Risk Assessment Practice Leader. With over twenty years of environmental project support experience, Ms. Czajkowski is primarily focused on ecological risk assessments and sediment remedial investigations and remedial actions. Since joining Roux, Ms. Czajkowski has designed and managed numerous ecological remedial investigations and ecological risk assessments under various state environmental regulatory programs. Ms. Czajkowski has helped formulate technical responses to draft natural resource damage plans and pre-assessment screenings for potentially responsible party groups at Superfund Sites in Colorado, Montana, and New York. She is actively engaged in the development of a toxicity testing program to support Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority with a beneficial reuse project in South San Francisco Bay. She has also provided technical expertise support to due diligence for real estate development clients.
A new member of our Logan Township team, Jason B. Flagg, PE, CHMM joined Roux this year as a client-focused Technical Director with over eighteen years of experience in various aspects of environmental consulting. Mr. Flagg has led all aspects of remedial design and implementation using various technologies. He encompasses a strong command of all aspects of the New Jersey regulatory environment, including the technical regulations and technical guidance documents associated with the New Jersey ISRA and New Jersey’s Technical Requirements for Site Remediation. Since joining Roux, Mr. Flagg has become a key member of several project teams, conducting remedial evaluations of petroleum light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) and chlorinated volatile organic compound (CVOC) plumes at industrial and pharmaceutical facilities, evaluating and optimizing a LNAPL treatment system at a bulk petroleum terminal, and performing due diligence for utility generation and real estate development clients.
