Roux Webinar – On the Road to Reuse: Limiting Liability at Legacy Sites through Demolition
Presented by Robert F. Chimchirian, P.E., LSRP • Tuesday, July 9th at 1pm EST
Legacy sites often contain abandoned structures, which can become an attractive nuisance for people and wildlife. Many legacy sites exist within urban areas which can attract various trespassers such as urban explorers, homeless, and vandals; however, the liability stays with the landowner if issues occur on the property.
Demolition of these facilities can be beneficial for overall risk management and cashflow purposes. Roux has helped many clients manage large-scale demolition projects from the initial design phase through contractor bidding and oversight, while ensuring known or potential environmental issues are properly addressed—eliminating the risk associated with trespassers. Demolition of legacy buildings can be complicated to navigate, but Roux’s expertise in this area will streamline the process and could restore the site to beneficial use (e.g., property sale or lease).
